Valentine Linzer Cookies

Yields: 12 Cookies



1 bottle Cake Mate® Valentine Nonpareil Décors

2 ¾ cups flour

¾ cup cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 White Cake Mate Decorating Icing Pouch


STEP 1  Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a small bowl.

STEP 2   Beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and creamy.

STEP 3  Beat in eggs and vanilla.

STEP 4  Stir in the flour mixture until a uniform dough is formed.

STEP 5  Cover dough, and then chill in refrigerator for about an hour.

STEP 6  Preheat oven to 350°F and then roll out chilled dough to ¼ inch thickness.

STEP 7  Use a 2-3 inch circle cookie cutter or glass to cut out circles. Use a small heart cutter to cut a heart out of the center of half of the cookies.

STEP 8  Carefully transfer cookies to parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool for 1 minute before transferring from cookie sheet to wire rack to cool completely.

STEP 9  Once cookies are cool, fill sandwiches with White Decorating Icing. Sprinkle Valentine Décors into heart cut out.
