Ingredients:
1 box of Chocolate Cake Mix
Ingredients called for on Cake Mix Box
6 1/2 cups or 5 tubs of Vanilla or Buttercream Icing
2 Tubes Cake Mate® Icing in Black
1 Package Cake Mate® Gel Food Color in Classic Colors
1 Package Cake Mate® Gel Food Color in Neon Colors
1 Bottle Cake Mate® Pearlescent Sugar
1 Bottle Cake Mate® White Pearls
Instructions:
STEP 1 Prepare cake mix according to the box instructions.
STEP 2 Using 8-inch pans, bake 2 cake layers following the directions on the cake mix box.
STEP 3 Let cake layers cool completely.
STEP 4 Assemble the 2-layer cake using the vanilla icing between the layers and to crumb coat the outside of the cake.
EXPERT TIP: Chill cake between crumb coat and finishing coat.
STEP 5 Using Cake Mate® Gel Food Color in Neon Pink, Neon Purple, Neon Green, Classic Blue, tint 4 tubs of frosting – one for each color.
EXPERT TIP: Empty frosting from the tubs into glass bowls so you can thoroughly mix the gel food colors into the frosting.
STEP 6 Around the sides and top of the chilled cake, place random swatches of colored frostings – pink, purple, green, blue, black. Using a flat spreader, longer than your cake is tall, smear the dots of color together. Being careful not to over smear and completely blend the colors together.
STEP 7 Place small handfuls of Cake Mate® Pearlescent Sugar around the base and sides if the cake.
STEP 8 Sprinkle Cake Mate® Pearlescent Sugar and White Pearls on top of the cake.
