Red Velvet Pirouline Cake

Ingredients:

1 box of Red Velvet Cake Mix

Ingredients called for on Cake Mix Box

4 cups or 2 tubs of white or buttercream frosting

1 Pouch Cake Mate® Decorating Icing in White

1 Package Cake Mate® Decorating Tips

1 Bottle Cake Mate® Chocolate Sprinkles

2 Packages Piroulene Cookies

Instructions:

STEP 1 Prepare cake mix according to the box instructions.

STEP 2 Using 8-inch pans, bake 2 cake layers following the directions on the cake mix box.

STEP 3 Let cake layers cool completely.

STEP 4 Assemble the 2-layer cake using the white or buttercream icing between the layers and to crumb coat the outside of the cake.

EXPERT TIP: Chill cake between crumb coat and finishing coat for about 1 hour.

STEP 5 After cake has chilled, finish frosting the cake.

STEP 6 Around the sides of the cake, place Piroulene cookies standing side by side.

STEP 7 Using Cake Mate® Decorating Icing in white, attach Cake Mate® tip #18 to pipe a star border, then a ring of stars halfway from the border to the middle of the cake top. Lastly, pipe a circle of stars in the center of the cake.

STEP 8 Sprinkle Cake Mate® Chocolate Sprinkles on top of the cake.
