Classic Plaid Cupcakes

Ingredients:

1 box of your favorite cake mix

Cake Mate® Pink Baking Cups

Buttercream frosting

Cake Mate® Green Gel Food Coloring

White Cake Mate® Decorating Icing Pouch

1 Package Cake Mate® 8-pack Decorating Tips

1 Bottle Cake Mate® White Pearls

Instructions:

STEP 1  Bake cupcakes using Cake Mate® Pink Baking Cups.

STEP 2  Let cupcakes cool completely.

STEP 3  Mix the buttercream frosting with green food coloring. Carefully frost the entire top of the cupcake, using a spatula to smooth the frosting.

STEP 4  Attach the #3 decorating tip to the White Cake Mate® Tube Icing.

STEP 5  Hold the tube at a 45° angle touching your tip to the surface of the cupcake. Lift slightly and guide the tube icing along with even pressure keeping your wrist straight to create your first line. Pipe three sets of two lines across the surface of the cupcake.

STEP 6  Create the plaid pattern by switching directions and repeating step 5.

STEP 7  To finish, touch your tip to the surface of the cupcake, release pressure, and pull away.

STEP 8  Finally, add some Cake Mate® White Pearls for a little sparkle.
